Christmas gift for keen knitter & crafter

My MIL knits all the time and she also is into card making. I was thinking of getting her a christmas present or something that would help her crafting addiction but I don't know what. Looking for something nice, pretty (she is very girly) but also something practical that she can use.

Any ideas? So far have come up with pretty stitch markers, but only cause I want some and might accidentally order two sets

Subscription to a knitting magazine?

Square knitting needles. They are 'the latest thing' and are supposed to help with arthritis and generally make knitting less tiring on your hands. You could get them here

Your MIL might be a bit like my mum in that she has been knitting for year and wouldn't bother to try out these needles for herself since she has perfectly good needles she has been using for many years, some of them her mother's first, but which aren't nearly as nice as the new ones available these days.

I also covet a yarn bowl. Of course they are probably unnecessary for most people but they are pretty. Smile

I also agree that a magazine subscription is good but there are so many types around you have to know what sort of knitting your MIL is into.

Oh never seen yarn bowls before, how pretty are they. Wonder if I could accidentally order two???

Thanks for your help

Does she have a favourite yarn shop or website - a voucher so she can chose might be nice.

Can second yarn bowls - I bought one at the K&S Show at Ally Pally and it is lovely.

Circular needle sets?

A place on a workshop/class?

My DD bought me a lovely bag for my yarns and needles which opens up and stands up by itself and then you can close it down to put it away. I think it was from Hobbycraft - it's something I wouldn't have bought for myself so I am thrilled with it Smile .

Does she have a nice knitting basket? Or something to keep her knitting needles and patterns in?

What about lots of little things like stich holders, row counters etc that you can never have enough of?

Thinking a yarn bowl, some pretty stitch markers and either some nice wool or new needles.

Have been looking online for yarn bowls but any I can find come from America, does anyone know anyone or anywhere from UK that makes or sells them?

Those Little Wren ones are lovely.

You could also try Etsy via the Shop Local search, then you can select only UK sellers. Folksy has a few too.
