Help me pick yarn for crochet blanket/throw

I want to make a nice throw in crochet squares. Previously I've indulged in gorgeous alpaca yarn to make baby blankets, but I can't afford that, but I still want something that feels lovely. I want to make a 2.5m x 2m throw and don't want to spend over £50

That's very big for £50.

What does the Drops extra find Merino work out at? It has the same kind of feel as some of the yarns used for Woolly Hugs.

I buy loads of my wool on ebay. it can be hit and miss in terms of finding enough to complete your project - but it is worth a go.
