WD40 will do it.

Hot hot water and a wire scrubber

Sleepyfergus · 09/10/2013 18:58

WD40 will do the trick, but also recommend a can of 'sticky stuff remover' from supermarket/homebase type places. Awesome stuff, million and one uses. Very handy to have under t'sink.

Surgical spirit?

CrowmarshGibbon · 09/10/2013 19:04

plain old cooking oilworks too

I've got some WD40 under the sink, I'll try that and report back.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions . x

Sticky Stuff Remover is fabulous stuff.

Oil or peanut butter or Mayo.

leave it on for about ten minutes then give it a good scrub. if it doesn't come off, try again but leave it for longer. it got the packing tape residue off of our bookcases, so hopefully will work for a jar.

WD40 has worked perfectly!

thanks everyone
