I would like to knit some squares to make a baby blanket.
But I would like to make them diagonal.
how?

Small ish squares, 6 inch I suppose. how would I do the increases/decreases?

I think it depends if you want them stocking stitch or garter stitch. But I've done it with garter stitch and just increased one at the beginning of each row which makes for even increases.

k1, inc, k to end

I have the book of blocks at home . I do 63 stitch cast on and double decrease in centre . I can put proper instructions up later if you want .

thanks,
I gave it shot your way Pukous, it works with plain look (garter?) but not purl.

Trumpton, is that how you make the triangle half blocks for the edges?

You' d have to start with a small number of stitches and do matching increases one stitch before the end e.g.

k1, m1, kxxxx, m1, k1

would work for purl as well, just make one stitch at either side inside the final stitch.

to appropriate width, then do the same with decreases. I would K2tog on one side and sl1 k1 psso on the other side so they lean in to each other IYSWIM.
