Hi

I havent been on for a while but I am starting up a card making business with my sil and need to advertise. Does anyone know the best way to go about it??? We are making Unique hand made cards for ANY occasion. New Garden, Octogenarian, 5th Birthday special girl etc. We are also creating personal verses as people require. Hoping someone out there can advise me. Thank you.

There are quite few of us on here that make / sell cards - we sell via websites, direct (using contact details on the back of cards) & at craft fairs etc. Not sure of the others, but most of my 'advertising' is done via word of mouth

Yeah we have been to the local car boot and have handed out leaflets and we have also put our names on any cards we did manage to sell but we have had nothing yet. We have also put an ad on ebay but have had nothing from that. Is it too popular?

from what I can gather (v. new to this myself!) advertising can be really tricky. It's hard to find a good value(ie cheap!) place to advertise that works.
As whizzz says, word of mouth works best at first, then maybe get some small leaflets done and put them up whereever you can, (noticeboards, etc).Try craft fairs, (have leaflets on your stall advertising your unique services).
Are you going to approach shops?

I think one of the problems is that is it a very popular craft & lots of people seem to make cards now. The best advert you can get is a card you make that someone else likes & wants you to make one etc etc.

Yeah I have a friend who liked our cards and now wants us to make all cards for friends etc. She is one person though, we are really hoping that word of mouth works cause we have already invested money into this. We have done posters/fliers to put in local shop windows etc. Not sure if advertising in the local paper would do any good. Thanks for the reply though.
