Booties from Knit today

I'm knitting booties from issue 89 September.
If anyone has this would you mind just looking at the booties pattern on pg 42 and explain why a hole is appearing when I shape the heel please.
It was going well until then and two holes appeared where I turned.

Anyone? I don't know why holes appear where I turn the heel.

I haven't got/seen the pattern but every time I knit socks I get a small hole at the heel turn which I tie off at the end.

I've never quite been able to work where they come from so haven't been able to rectify them yet. But I'll keep trying.

It might help if you knit the first stitch after you turn through the back of the loop. Haven't seen the pattern, haven't seen the holes, this is just something I do when turning heels and avoiding holes. The holes don't matter much, they are just part of the pattern.

Just make sure you don't drop stitches when you turn you should be fine.

Ok I shall try knit tbl, the pattern doesn't say so but it's got to be better than holey booties. Thank you.

But I'm sure the pattern is wrong because I'm not ending up with the right number of stitches. That was a waste of time!

Without seeing the pattern I cant comment of course. Glad the ktbl helped.

I did them! I had to tweak the pattern as I'm sure there was a miss print. But they look good, like mini ugg boots.
