air dry clay - can I bake it?

... or will it explode? My kitchen is covered in slabs (about 5mm thick) of air dry clay. I googled and it said it could take "even up to a day" to dry. They lie. Some of these are nearly 48 hours old now and nowhere near dry. Baking them all would be a PITA but worth it if it gets them, and the smell of wet clay, out of the kitchen.

No experience of this personally but a quick google and read on e-how web site says that you can oven bake it providing you do this slowly so as not to make it crack.
It says 200F (which is as low a temp as your gas/electric oven will do) and says put the pieces on parchment paper on an oven tray so that the piece won't stick as it bakes.
Also says to leave oven door slightly ajar so the piece will not cook too quick and to check on it every 8 minutes or so.
When sides are dry, lie the piece on it's side so that the base gets chance to cook and harden.

Thanks. They are flat slabs so I would guess that turning them over halfway through would work.

There are 25 of them though - my oven is going to be on all night.

It's at times like this that I really wish I had an airing cupboard.
