Crochet blanket- to block or not?

I'm making a blanket for my dd with crochet granny squares and ive recently read somewhere about blocking the squares before hooking together. Does everyone do this? Is it better to block?

I don't block but I am a lazy trout Grin I usually join as I go, though.

I think the squares for the Woolly Hugs aren't blocked before they are hooked together as they are easier to do before blocking.

i don't think you need to block before you join, actually when making the wolly hugs they ask that you don't as it makes the joining up harder. I just block the finished product if it looks like it needs it.

I am quite lazy with sewing up knitting or joining crochet squares and have never blocked a single item Blush , so I would say no.

Block it, you've spent all that time creating lovely squares, blocking gives a much nicer finish with uniform squares. Blocked squares should be easier to crochet together as the stitches are more likely to line up.

I did a bit. I steamed them with the iron from above and they do look nicer now :-)
