What is stretchy cotton called?

I want to make a sleep suit with natural fibres and fleece is too warm.

bamboo fleece is too expensive.

Brushed cotton, not stretchy enough.

I am sitting here in stretch cotton (100%) pjs (lazy slut Grin) which is just the right fabric but I cant find any in fabric warehouse or online. Am I not looking in the right place?

Jersey? That's what it's always been known as in our house anyway Grin

Cotton jersey, isn't it?

Cotton jersey, but take note of the weight - lighter weight ones can be very thin, you need a heavier weight one for your project

Also check if it is "mercerised" ie pre shrunk, if not you need to shrink it by heavy steam iron or hot wash before cutting it - or it will shrink later

HTH

jersey or knitted cotton.

or even teeshirt fabric...

Gatekeeper · 12/09/2013 15:02

heavier stuff is also called interlock

nickelbabe · 12/09/2013 16:57

although technically, all interlock is knitted cotton (names are confusing...)

Smile by some fluke I have ordered interlock cotton jersey which should be the heavier fabric I wanted. Now hurry up and arrive I want to get sewing!
