Help with painting fabric.

Basically I'm quite artistic and I wanted to design some tshirts and vests for my little toddler son. I've never painted or drawn on fabric before. I got some fabric pens and some cheap white tshirts but wondered if anyone could advise me on techniques, good brands of ink etc to buy - everything really! Anywhere on amazon to bulk buy clothes, experiences in painting on coloured materials. I don't want to only be doing things on white fabric but am also nervous of dying everything else when I wash them. I did try googling but haven't found anything helpful - most results are on how to get paint OFF clothes. Any website recommendations? Help!

You need to be on Pinterest, you can search on there & find links to lots of good tutorials using things such as freezer paper to create a screen print effect.

But otherwise - yes you can paint on colours, but to begin with you need to stick to darker colours especially black' as to use white etc you will run into problems without professional screen printing inks & experience - you will fair better with light colours, but expect the under colour to show through slightly & affect the ink colour.

Start off with buying cheap tees in Primark & the likes you can see what you are getting & buy as little or as much as you need, progress to buying in bulk if its something ou really do enjoy, but be aware that to get bulk prices you really do have to buy a lot

If you are not on Pinterest already, shout & I can send you an invite
