Been up since 4am worrying about my card stall

I'm selling cards at the school fete today and am worrying that no one will buy them. I've sold a few on ebay but I hate it when people pick them up, grimace and put them back.

I'm not tough enough for face to face selling.

It will be ok!
Good luck.

Stargazer · 17/06/2006 06:49

Good luck - I'm sure it will be successful.

Riddo · 17/06/2006 06:52

Thank you. I suppose the worst that can happen is that I sit in the sun for a couple of hours and sell nothing.

It is tough isnt it? If you are like me, I take it personally :( I suppose you do when its something that you have created. I just keep telling myself that no matter how good you are you will never please everyone because everyone has different likes and dislikes. Thats what makes our world so interesting.

Ive got a stall booked for the school fair too and am shatting myself too (not til 2nd July). You must come back and tell us how it goes and give me any tips you pick up. I am sure you will be fine and sell loads.

Riddo · 17/06/2006 07:00

I do take it personally esp when people comment on price. I make the cards much cheaper then the so called handmade shop ones. I enjoy making them and don't expect to become a millionaire but it is hard when I've put a lot of effort in. I expect it will be fine - the insomnia has not helped my mood!

I must remember to put blusher on or I'll put the customers off!

Poppies - how much are the school charging you for the stall? I'm paying £10 so need to sell 15 cards to break even.

OP posts:
poppiesinaline · 17/06/2006 07:04

£10 here too.

Shock how much do you sell your cards for? I can not see how people can comment on the price! greedy mutts. I charge between £1 and £2.50 for a card depending on the complexity and size and loads of people have said I should charge more.

I am sure you will do ok but I do know how you feel. I will be on here on the 2nd posting the same thing and you will be on here reassuring me on how fab it will be and telling me how you sold loads Grin

Riddo · 17/06/2006 07:06

I charge between £1.20 and £1.50. I also do personalized wedding cards for £2.50 (have sold a lot of those on ebay) and £1.50 for personalised child's birthday card.

My friend has a theory that people don't know how much cards cost because they just add them to their trolley in Tescos.

Those prices are good.

Do you have any Fathers Day Cards? Make sure you display them on the front - some people have bound to have forgotten to buy one yet.

Riddo · 17/06/2006 07:11

Good plan. I've got a few

:)

Emma7 · 17/06/2006 07:49

I reckon you could charge a bit more than that if you wanted - see how it goes this time first I guess. What is your ebay shop called/how do we find it?

Good luck today - just keep smiling! Smile

UCM · 17/06/2006 09:28

I expect you are there now, but I hope you are having fun and selling tons of cards. Good Luck!!

Twiglett · 17/06/2006 09:33

did this with t-shirts last year .. and felt exactly the same .. made £120 for the school

this year I've asked if someone else can sell them .. don't mind making them .. hate selling them

good luck Grin

Twiglett · 17/06/2006 09:34

oops .. see the money's for you Grin ignore me

charliecat · 17/06/2006 09:35

your cards are lovely :-) Chin up!

hunkermunker · 17/06/2006 10:24

Good luck with it - am sure it will be fine. I found that people just liked seeing things other than are in the shops.

Riddo · 17/06/2006 12:18

Thanks everyone. Emma7 my cards are \link{http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZrachel1441QQhtZ-1\here}

I'm so nervous - it's ridiculous - perhaps I'll wear my sunglasses and plaster on a fixed grin.

RIDDO, we are waiting to see how you done. By your absence I reckon you sold out of your stock got enough orders to last you 6 months, came home to celebrate with the wine and are in bed with a hangover.

Or you made 36.50 before paying for stall like me at my first one and want to hide away.....Grin Please don't as all of us have had some disasters on here. One of us had to eat loads of scones and only sold 2 cards Grin
