I'm doing this wee fella here

thesmilingrobot.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/meet-genghis.html?m=1

I can't get the fringing right on the head. (Row 9) I end up with 18 peaks not 9.

I'm obviously not placing my stitches correctly....

Please help or suggest an alternative pattern.

I read it as 1ch and a treble into the first stitch then 2chain slip stitch into the next stitch. Each peak uses up 2 stitches making 9 peaks across your 18 stitches from the last row.

He's lovely!

How do you chain into a row? I only ever chain on the end of the row?

(I am actually a novice despite what my profile pictures would suggest)

As in I have only ever chained from where I have finished the last stitch. How do I get into the next stitch before doing the chain?

Just do a chain like you would at the end of a row. Using a slip stitch "anchors" it into the work. Putting chains in the middle of work is useful when crocheting lacy stuff.

Despite crocheting for nearly 40 years I have never even tried Amigurami. Yours look fantastic Grin

EdwiniasRevenge · 19/08/2013 22:25

So I do my treble.

Then ss into the next stitch.
Then chain 2
Then ss into the same stitch?

I have a lacy piece on the go but I don't find it as easy to pick up as amigurumi which is pretty much all dcs. Plus I seem to hace an endless list of requests from the kids (ignores my luigi, bambi and minions I should be doing). This one is for a MNetter though. Shhh

Actually will that use 2 stitches though?

Surely the ch of the next peak will start on top of the ss of the last.

Ive tried doing the ch2 off the end of the treble and then missa stitch and ss into the next but the peak is uneven...

No I read it as

1 chain and 1 treble in first stitch

Then 2 chain

Then slip stitch into the second stitch.

Then 1 chain and 1 treble in third stitch

Then 2 chain

Then slip stitch into the fourth stitch.

Repeat right along all 18 stitches = 9 bumps in total

EdwiniasRevenge · 19/08/2013 22:43

Ok..

I've done it

I am not sure I have followed the pattern as it is written but I have a bumpy edging...

He's great :)

I see patterns as guidance rather than law Wink
