OK what have I done wrong - made shorts for DS and

Not sure the shorts can be sorted out, although DS is saying its actually him

I'd guess the crotch in the centre front seam has the wrong shaped curve.. unless you've got a zip there?

If he has another pair of shorts, turn inside out and fold so that the side seams are together, straighten out the front crotch and compare to yours.. is there a big difference?

Yeah I think you are right. He is an impossible shape to start with (short & wide) plus he insists on wearing all waistbands on his hips.

In theory making them is the way to go but in practice it doesn't seem to be working. I have classes starting in September so I may see if I can make myself some trousers as its the one thing I have never done - maybe once I've done that it may be easier for me to see how to tackle him

I did a good pair of shorts by just taking apart a pair which fitted my DD and then making a pattern from the bits!

I use DS's existing shorts to make his, perhaps because you lowered the waistband to his hips? I don't know...

Clearly you need to build in braces so that he wears them at a sensible location...
