Help - buying wool online!

I am trying to get wool for a pattern and started out using black sheep wools, but have a couple of questions:

  1. I've chosen the colours from the list but then at checkout there's an option to put in a "specific dye number". What does this mean? Is it the number in brackets next to the colour name in the pattern? And if I don't put anything will I still get the same wool?
  2. Is Black Sheep good value, or can you recommend somewhere else which has a good selection of wools reasonably cheaply? I need about 10 balls so anywhere with free delivery over a certain price would be good...

TIA

Deramores is good and Sconch Textiles.

Some yarn has a lot number. So if you need one more ball to complete a project you can try to get hold of one with the same lot number in order to ensure the colour is exactly the same. I think that's what it means :)

If you were making a garment and had already used yarn in a specific colour you would want to purchase from the same dye lot because there can be slight variations in colour even if you are technically buying the same shade.
If you don't put in the lot no uou will still get the yarn.

I've ordered from Black Sheep and been pleased with the prices and delivery.

I 've used deramores and wool warehouse and been happy with the service. Deramores always has offers running so worth a look at their facebook page to see if it's what you're buying.

Deramores and Masons, as others have said, are really good. The other I use is The Crochet Chain as it sells DROPS yarn at really good prices. Never had a probelm with them.
