I have a friend stopping over in London for a few days and she wants to go shopping for beads and elastic string kinda stuff.

Is there a good place in central London? I could only suggest John Lewis.

Might be worth a google search, but I think there is one at the far end of Portobello Road near Blenheim Crescent, and there was one in Covent Garden (not sure if it's still there). But, I am not a craft person, so no idea if there are better shops around....

there's also one at 21 Tower St.Covent Garden and one in Neals Yard, Covent Gdn too

hi,
The bead shop near covent garden/ leiceaster square tube, cant rememebr the name of the sreet, or what its called, (i think it is the on tower street mentioned by boudicca below) but it is near the 'famous' 'ivy' restaurant - opposite which is a theatre, and behind the theatre is the bead shop. this is the best one in london if you ask me, and nicely located too.

hope that helps and your making something lovely!!!

Thanks everyone - I have passed all suggestions on. My friend is Swedish, living in barbados, stopping off in London on her way to Kazakhstan - how's that for international!

John Lewis has moved their habedashery department to the fourth floor and it seems to have doubled in size!! I popped in their quickly on Saturday and was amazed.
