The Sewing Bee book - sizing help

Has anyone made anything from the Sewing Bee book?

My measurements are bringing me up at a size 14-16 according to their size guide on page 77 but I wear a dress size 10-12.

Can anyone tell me if the patterns are cut really small?

Thank you!

I've only made one thing so far but have found the same. I'm a 10 in real life but a 14-16 in sewing patterns. I wonder if they have stuck to more old fashioned sizing while the shops have flattered our vanity and made their sizes larger.

Maybe. Did the size "14" you made fit you happy?

It's a wrap skirt ( not from seeing bee book) so the sizing is quite easy, but yes it fits. I think you need to ignore sizes and concentrate on the measurements.

Patterns have a standard size whereas shops don't. Theory is that any pattern would fit in that size
