Ideas pls. Knitting.

For my birthday I bought 2 50g skeins of mirasol cotton and merino and 2 Sirdar country style, I loved the colours but only had enough to buy 2 of each.
After my last lace cowl project with one ball of cashmere, I have realised one ball of dk goes quite far.
But what else could I make with one or 2 balls of dk?
Thinking ahead for Xmas!

Surely if it was a birthday gift you should be knitting something for yourself :) A hot water bottle cover? Cushion cover? Bag?

I should be knitting for myself but I end up keeping the things I knit if I love the outcome. I really should start on Xmas gifts though.
