Tapestry rug kit for child

I would like to make a tapestry rug for my son, my daughter has the one that my grandmother made for me and it is something of a family tradition. I can only find two kits online, links below, one I'm not too keen on and the other is £511!

Any hints or tips about where I could look? Google not particularly helpful

Many thanks

Have you tried eBay?

If you felt confident enough, what about choosing your own design and buying what you need? Would make it v unique :)

I had a lovely book of Winnie the Pooh lettering for dd- cost me £3! I didn't do a rug though - just a cushion with her 3 letter name on it!

Forgot to say not creative enough to design it myself !

You don't have to design it from scratch. My book had individual squares that you could put together to make a name or do a rug like you want. :)

I get the feeling you want something more traditional but I'm extremely drawn to Emily peacocks circus style writing. I couldn't afford her kits though!
