Anyone make lampshades? A quick question

I want to make a few drum lampshades for the house. I bought some kits from needcraft and started on a small one for ds's room using some glow in the dark space themed fabric. It looks lovely but I feel like I need to put some kind of tape (self adhesive?) around the edges where the material is folded over the metal ring and tucked in to keep them neat. This doesn't come with the kit, so I would need to source something. What do other people use?

When I used to make them, I used simple sewing stitch which was barely visible and very neat.
