I am about to buy this so I can colour at the same time as dd2. Can you recommend me some pens?

Nice! But you know DD will infuriate you by "having a go" of your pristine pages don't you? At best...at worst she'll lean over and scribble on your page. Grin

Are you sure you shouldn't be using pencils with that book?

pigsinmud · 27/06/2013 18:08

No I'm not sure! I had wondered about pencils.

As for sharing she won't let me near her books, but I'm sure she still feel entitled to have a go in mine!

How about watercolour pencils? Just google for a variety of makes/prices. Mine are called Paintcil, but not showing up on google, so perhaps no longer produced. Gives you the option of using them like conventional colouring pencils or wet, to achieve a water colour effect but with more control than using a paintbrush.

Thanks. I'll have a look at watercolour pencils.

Definitely don't go for pens. I have that book and the pen bleeds through. I use bog standard pencils, need some nice ones!

Caran d'ache watercolour pencils are hard to beat and their felt pens are gorgeous....I will never forget the box of 40 under the Christmas tree rather too many years ago to mention!

Lorialet · 28/06/2013 23:02

Oh wow, that looks brilliant! I would use my Prismacolor pencils for that (you can get them really sharp and they blend beautifully)

Thank you all for your advice. Dd2 is buying the book for my birthday next week. Dh had to ask me what she was talking about as she appeared with her money and said she wanted to buy a colouring book for me.

It is a surprise of course! I am still faffing about pencils.....so many to choose from.
