crochet groups in glasgow?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any groups in glasgow?

Found one in a pub in partick but its on at night and ideally I need something when the children are at school. I'm teaching myself how to crochet but my squares are just not looking quite right, I've watched numerous videos on it but I think I need to see it in real life.

There's a Rowan rep at John Lewis who does occasional classes. There are only four places on each though so you have to sign up quickly. I was speaking to her the other week and she said there aren't any scheduled at the moment, but she is about to plan the next block; she's willing to take suggestions too!

Alternatively, you could try asking at Mandors? They definitely do sewing/dressmaking/quilting classes, so they might also do crochet or know of some if you ask?

Hi there. I struggled to learn to crochet, and also struggled to find a group.
Via twitter I found this course here and within a few weeks was crocheting squares for the MN woolly hugs.
Might help you out a bit?

thank you, will have a look.

Where are you? If you're in the west end the very helpful people at The Yarn Cake may be able to help. I know they have a drop in crochet evening on a Tuesday night, but they may offer daytime things too.

The Yarn Cake is on Queen Margaret Drive, forgot to mention that.

Also, I went to a crochet class years ago run by a woman called Michelle and it was called Get Yer Balls Out. You could search for her. Not sure if she still does classes though.

The Hidden Lane Tea Room also used to do classes.

thank you, I'm very near the hidden lane so that would be good if they still have classes.

I just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong- when i do a square with sc its perfect but then anything else just goes wonky. Will look into the other classes aswell, thanks again

Is that a granny square that goes well? And everything else is wonky?

I imagine it's just one of those times when an experienced crocheter would say it was 'just your tension', but that never really meant much to me. It can just be a case of getting the feel of it though.

Have you had a look at the attic24 tutorials? I used them to teach myself, to a point, but there does get to be a point when you need someone to show you.

I would definitely pop into the hidden lane tearoom and ask, if only for the excuse to drink tea and eat cake!

yep granny squares fine- all other squares wonky. i'm not losing or gaining stitches so i think its the last stitch in the chain or the way i'm turning- and sounds like a good reason to get a scone from the tearoom:)
