Fathers day gifts

Anyone knitting for fathers day? What are you knitting? I can't decide. I have some socks in dk (should be doable in the time) or a beanie at the moment. Leaning towards the socks but he's picky so will either love or hate em. Who doesn't love hand knitted socks though? Right? Eep.

I've been asked to knit a scarf for DP's dad. I ordered some Sirdar yarn in black (can't remember which one now) and I'm going to knit it in bamboo stitch as it seems to look nice for mens scarves.
Lets hope I can do it by the 16th because I'm quite slow.

Socks are always handy, I'm not that advanced yet, wish I could knit them.

If he's picky just try and have a nosey at some other socks he wears and go along the same kind of style. You can't go wrong!

Purlesque, i've started the socks, also with sirdar wool and a pattern. They're weird though coz they're knit on 2 needles. If you can knit on dpn's, give socks a go. They are actually very easy. They look scary if youtry to read the turn the heel bit. I still boggle at it. If you just follow exactly what it says, it's actually dead easy. And they are WAY better than shop bought.

Yes I bet they are. I love wooly socks.
I haven't tried DPNs yet but socks are next on my wish list (after leg warmers and loads of other stuff). :)

The pattern i'm using is sirdar no. 9135. It's socks on 2 needles. But i think it's harder to knit em on 2 needles so i'd say go for dpn every time. If you love knitting on 2 needles you might like this pattern though.
