Knitted gift ideas for...

A 6 year old girl.
She likes dressing up and princess stuff but her mum hates it and won't get worn/ used unless she is at her nans.
I have no money so thought I'd knit something. I have just over a week. What could I knit for her? Something simple but nothing too pink and spangly. Something a bit tomboy-ish but with a hint of girly.
Help very much appreciated. TIA.

Yes something like that perhaps. It'll have to be a quickie so something small.

Would this princess crown hat be suitable?

Or Red Riding Hood's cape?

Purlywhites · 29/05/2013 18:49

I love that cape! Thanks for that.

I love the cape too! But I just asked my Mum if she'd knit it for DD2 who is 5 and she scoffed and said "Who'd put their child in THAT???"

Shock

ME! I would Mother! Sad I like it!

What about knitted toys? I'm sure I've seen patterns for little finger puppets...

Or how about clothes for her dolls/teddies?

That cape is so sweet! I bet my 6 year old niece would love it.

Ragdoll

Hello Kitty Hat

I can't be the only one tempted to make an adult-size Red Riding Hood cloak Blush

KurriKurri · 29/05/2013 23:37

No Ria - you are not Grin

BlueChampagne · 30/05/2013 16:31

How about one of those fancy frilly scarves - if you have time to get the yarn?

My DS would love the Red Riding Hood cloak!

Purlywhites · 31/05/2013 06:53

Yes I would if I had a DD.

She likes Hello Kitty, I considered a toy but I haven't done one yet. I don't think my first one should be a gift, especially when her mum is so fussy.

I'll look through the links again and see which is easiest.
Thanks for the replies.

I do like the ragdoll though!

My six year old would like a knitted Pokemon ball.

We also have knitted food. There's a whole section on eBay.

marissab · 31/05/2013 07:54

I'd go for ragdoll. Then if you have enough time, knit a couple ofdresses in different colours then she can dress up! Smile

Purlywhites · 31/05/2013 13:22

I may go for the doll. The different dresses sounds good.
She's quite a mature 6 year old and not very girly.
Oh we'll I'm sure she'd like a doll even if her mum hates it (she been known to make stuff go missing iykwim).
