How accurate are fabric requirements on patterns?

I have a dress pattern that I want to make. It calls for 2 3/8 yds of fabric and I have 2 metres. Do you think I can make it work? I'm a short-arse if that helps?

Does the fabric have a pattern repeat? If it does then if you want yo match the repeat no. Most patterns I have used are very tight with the material do unlikely. Pin it out and see.
