edging crochet blanket-what do i do with the loose threads?

novice crochet-er here! finished a simple striped blanket, think in chain stitch . so i just wanted to do the same stitch for the edging but all the end-y threads make it look messy. what do i do with them?

I lay my ends along the row below so they are tucked in under the new row.

I do that too.
