where do you store your yarn stash?

Following on from the yarn addiction thread, I have just purchased 11 new balls of yarn, to add to the 40+balls I have

They were a steal only £1 a roll in my local wool shop. Anyway I need storage ideas. ..so where do you store your stash??

I have seven big boxes with lids under the beds. One will probably do for you: for the time being

This time next year though....

Stash? What stash? . I have an ikea Expedit unit, the one with four 35cm x 35cm square holes and two of the baskets in it are taken up with yarn.

I've an old-fashioned sewing container, wooden supports which cross half-way down, fabric on two sides and underneath (easy to change to match decor), inside pockets for needles etc.,but I don't have huge amounts to store.

All over the place. Preferably where DH can't put two and two together and realise how much there is.

I have a collection of really useful boxes and under the bed boxes. I have a big bag of Stylecraft in the bottom of a wardrobe. Oh and some stuffed behind the sofa.

I am in the process of re-organising my stash of fabric and yarn. So far I have 4 x 62 litre Wham plastic lidded storage boxes, 2 x 80 litre boxes, 4 x 110 litre boxes and a variety of smaller ones... and I still have some bin bags lying around! I am stacking the boxes up against a wall in our (floored) loft.

My stash has been accumulating for more than 30 years. I am a bit of a hoarder anyway, but I have "bargains" from the closing down sales of a number of local yarn shops in the 1980s and 90s. I am steadily working my way through some of the oldest stash - some of the yarns, that I had decided were too stiff for clothing after I bought them, have made nice crocheted baskets and bags. Others have been put to good use in the various Woolly Hugs projects. At present I am trying not to buy anything new unless it is to use in a project with something I already have.

Storing stash? I'm doing it wrong, mostly I hide it from DH! Mine is a suitcase and a couple of big boxes- and bits here and there...

I have discovered crochet ripple blankets though - that will hopefully eat some yarn ..and they are lovely.

Theas a ripple crochet blanket is my next project, so that means more lovely yaen:o

saycheeeeeese - unfortunately with all craft stashes, the quality is more important than the quantity! I still never have what I need for the next project...

Sorry but if you can put your wool in one spot, it is not a stash.

A true stash is a moving target and will wander from room to room, it will hide itself behind and under sofas, it will sit in official boxes and then leech out. It does not know which room it belongs in, in your house it will be everywhere, under beds, under the stairs... even behind books on the bookshelves...

If you can count it, it is not a stash...

My thoughts entirely LatteLady! It really needs a room of its own to be a true stash.

Mine is all over our living room, much to Dp's dismay.
