minky baby blanket

Hello. I want to make a very simple baby blanket using one panel of quilting fabric and soft and cuddly minky fabric as a backing. However, I imagine minky is a slippery fabric. I am competent with a sewing machine and have sewn simple dresses and tops before. Would minky fabric be a step too far for a relative beginner? If so, could anyone suggest alternative? Any suggestions very welcome!

I don't know I've never used minky but I do have an even feed or walking foot for my machine which feeds bot fabrics through together so there's less slippage if using different weights. it might work other than that hand basting before you seam? Grin

Thanks cheesecheeseplease. Will try an even feed or walking foot. I may be back for more advice!
