Easy baby girl knitting pattern

This is the first time I've ventured into this topic. I have recently started knitting and I've made a few basic baby jumpers/cardi's for my DS (who is due this week!)
I'd like to try and knit something for my SIL who is due a little girl soon but I can't find a simple but nice pattern that I would be capable of doing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using DK wool. I've had a look on Ravelry but there's so much choice!

Just a few questions to help narrow down the search...

Are you confident with basic shaping (increasing and decreasing)?

Are you OK with both knitting and purling?

Would you be happy knitting using a circular needle?

I have knitted something like this top down cardigan and it looks lovely over a long sleeved t-shirt.

On ravelry you need to use all the filters. I tend to pick:knitting, free pattern, with photo, etc. and if I have the wool then I put that in too. I'm just aboout to knit something for a baby girl I'm thinking of doing a watermelon hat - its sooo cute Smile

I am also new to knitting but did a quick search for you. I've chosen clothing, difficulty of 2, age rating of baby, free pattern. You can change any of the filters if you fancy doing say a hat, or can manage something a bit harder. That said, I don't think the "baby" filter has worked so well.

I like this :)

Muddy I have done that - in those colours its lovely and easy Smile

Woollybacks - that cardigan is lovely too

This months 'Let's get crafting; Knitting and Crochet' magazine is all about the babies! There are tops, hats, bows, shoes, rattles, toys....... all sorts and the wool/needles/hook.
I'm just gutted I don't have any babies to knit for right now!

this dress looks really easy. I'm also wishing I had babies to knit for Grin

Oh thank you! I didn't expect any replies. I will go and have a look at all the links!

TheWoolly I can knit purl etc and do increasing/decreasing not sure about the knitting round thing. I tried to do cable knit but that was too much for my pregnant brain.
Thanks so much for your help!

I have just finished a cardigan on ravelry Maile Cardigan, it's got a bit of lace but I used Sirdar Baby Snuggly Crofter and it's quite lovely.

I started a thread a while ago called what to knit when you are expecting... Had some really good suggestions on it, lots of free ravelry ones :)

Ninja linked to the pattern I was going to - you can knit it in two pieces so no need to knit in the round. Here's the one I did.

How about this one? I have the pattern but haven't tried it yet.

Kanoko cardigan to go with the Kanoko pants - these are great but you do need to knit in the round.

This one looks fun as well.
