I have no sand. Would flour work? What else could I use? Do I mix it right into the paint or ads ur to pva glue then paint over it? Any ideas?

Unlikely, but have you got any sawdust?
I'd mix it into the paint.

Would glitter work?

In the past I have used, dried herbs, torn up bits of tissue paper, and sawdust.
I just mix it straight into the paint (or in the case of tissue stick it to a layer of paint and then paint over). I think flour might go a bit yukky, so I wouldn't use that.

Salt or sugar would work too if you use it quickly
