If I had to cut up a towel for something, would it need hemming or would it be ok?

Don't ask! (don't laugh at me flamey!) I need some squares of cut up towel for something... do you think I should bother hemming them or will they be ok without unravelling? They'll get washed lots... (They're old baby towels quite thin)
