We got a quote from John Lewis for our bay window was going to cost about £700.

DP thought for a laugh he would have a go, bought the fabric and lining from John Lewis and ordered the kits over the net (Merrick and Day) He did all the sewing etc and they are fab and everything cost £130. (He is a lawyer and sewing isn't his forte) - so Yes they are easy to do! Smile

cod · 30/04/2006 10:25

not hey woudl be too har d for me
fins are not conducive to blind making

KTeePee · 30/04/2006 10:29

I made some years ago for our old house. I think i got the instructions froma soft-furnishings book from the library and a kit from somewhere (maybe JL or Ikea). I think they were fairly easy but I used to do a lot of sewing as a teenager...

I might have the instructions still (to dh's despair I am a bit of a hoarder)

Caligula · 30/04/2006 10:44

Good lord I can't afford £130 for a blind. I'm more your Ikea kind of gal. Can't find these kits, I've searched John Lewis site

sorry !!

bettythebuilder · 30/04/2006 10:57

lol whizzz!

hotmama · 30/04/2006 11:00

The £130 was for 3 blinds - for a Victorian bay window - I think the biggest worked out about £40 - 1 metre by 2 metre drop.

Caligula · 30/04/2006 11:10

Oh that's OK then. My kitchen window is small.
