I recently followed this tutorialneverenoughhours.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/fat-quarter-baby-quilt-tutorial.html and am super pleased with the result.
I now want to make a single bed sized quilt and I was wondering I anyone could recommend another (easy) tutorial that I could follow?
Also I have a very basic sewing machine, when making bigger quilts will I need a bigger more complicated machine?

You don't need a bigger machine - I did a double quilt with my small, basic machine. I did do a lot of 'squooshing' though (and rolling) to be able to quilt into the middle of it.

I was going to link to my tutorial, but it's much more basic and not as beautiful as the one you've done Blush :o

What about this tutorial?

It's for a small quilt but you could just add blocks to make it the size you want. It's very clearly and helpfully explained (and illustrated).
