Baby bean bag toys

Amongst other sewing projects I've been making little bean bag toys for friends' children, mostly for 1st birthday and few for Christmas presents. Parents have always been happy to receive them and babies happily playing with them (well, also older kids playing chasing and chucking games with those toys!)

Now I'm thinking of starting selling them. Only to advertise via word of mouth/school fair that kind of thing. Just not sure there would be interest enough...Would you buy anything like that? They can be made personal eg with child's name on, or counting ones 1-5 or 0-9. With tags for younger kids and maybe without tags for older ones? What would you be willing to pay for one bean bag?

My friens say they are lovely and great idea and all that but I need some more opinions from people who don't know me

I'm no expert and wouldn't you need to make sure they met British standards as are toys.

Also don't know how whether taggies own any intellectual property in the ribbons on toys idea and how proactive they are in enforcing that?

Just a couple of thoughts. But the stuff you're making us seriously cute!

You are right - it could be tricky as they are toys.. I'm using poly pellets as fillings, so it's fine when the bags are chewed and they can be washed and all that. Need to read about standards.

There are some local sellers who make little baby blankets with ribbons on, so I'm not sure if they have read about taggies and the copyrights. Need to investigate!

Well re taggies - I've made taggie type things and sold them before with no repercussions!

I agree with HaveToWearHeels. They're lovely. I'd pay £5. Shame postage would be quite pricey (I imagine) otherwise you'd have your first customer here!

Thanks Kittie! Well, you wouldn't be 1st, one of my friend's friend has asked me today to make a set for her niece! I haven't really openly talked about selling but she saw them at my friend's house and loved them. The hardest part was to answer the question 'how much?' as I never sold any of my stuff and haven't actually properly calculated my costs yet. So I did say £5 each, waiting for her to say something like 'oh, I can' pay that!' or 'that's way too expensive!'. No, she didn't! She seemed to think that was reasonable price! I'm so happy.
I am making a matching drawstring bag to put the beanbags in, so gift set like that with 5 bags for £25 - I guess it's not too bad.

I haven't thought about posting at all as was thinking of doing everything locally. I do need to post a set to my cousin's little one but they live abroad so that will be expensive anyway!!
