So I got my first little sewing machine! What can I start with that's easy?

Hi, it's my first post on this board!

It really is a little one, it's the cute beginners one from john Lewis. so looking for some nice easy projects to get me started.

Anything home-ey would be great, but I also have a hankering to make a circle skirt - am I aiming too high there?

I'm excited!

I just got an ikea sewing machine a wee while ago. I made a cot quilt as my first (and so far only) project. I followed this tutorial which was excellent neverenoughhours.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/fat-quarter-baby-quilt-tutorial.html. Ordered material in fat quarters from an Ebay shop, plus some backing material. It is a cot quilt but would be good as a lap quilt or could easily be made bigger.
For help on binding the quilt at the end I found a tutorial on Youtube from Missouri Star Quilt Company which was very easy to follow.
Have to say everyone I show the quilt too thinks it looks great and I am very pleased with it.
I have no idea about a circle skirt, sorry.
