So, I'm feeling like a prize twit having attempted to knit and then felt a tablet case for mum for the tablet that siblings have bought for christmas.

The instructions were to machine wash at 40 degrees, and shrinkage would be about 30 percent. Anyway, it's shrunk too much and I'm left with a pencil case! Xmas Blush

I can't do much about it, I've about managed to stretch it wide enough but it's too short, I have a bit of wool left, should I make an extra bit and make a 'flap'. Any other thoughts (apart from starting again).

you can do a mixed media jobby? Use some woollen fabric. or nice felt, or get a jumper from the charity and chop it up? Differetn textures can be good...never give up - the best designs come from cock ups...i just did a felt pinboard that was the result of a design ahem, rethink. The strips down were completely improvised because I couldnt bring myself to stamp on the main fabric. Go for it!

I would probably go with making a flap. Make a feature of the join with something like piping or ribbon so that it looks deliberate!

Ooh thanks, think I'll be scouring the Charity shops and purchasing some ribbon, (sewing's not my thing so don't have fabric lying around) just when I thought christmas was about sorted.
Next year I must learn to sew and to be less hasty
