Christening card

I've been asked to make a Christening card for a friend of mine and I want to make it really special as the baby's mum lost a child (aged only 2)just a few weeks before she gave birth. I'm running low on inspiration though! Has anyone got some good ideas or know some good sites to look on. Most of the ones I've looked at have more new baby cards. i saw some nice silver beaded crosses on ebay that i had a few ideas for but any others would be welcome. Thanks!

or {http://www.kathies.co.uk/Commissions/Page1/Page1a.htm\here} You could adapt yours to fit. They are easy to make.

Thanks UCM I like that idea but don't really know enough about the child to make it so detailed. I would have to practice making that kind of card too although I could probably work it out! (in fact I'll probably end up having ago at it tonight anyway!!) I loved the nappy pins that were on the ribbon. They were gorgeous. I think it's because of all that this mum has been through I want to make it extra nice. The problem is I don't actually know her as such. She's a friend of my friend. i usually just make cards for me to give so it's quite a big deal for me to be asked to make one especially! And although I'm a bit stumped at the moment I 'm dead chuffed to have been asked.

It is soooo easy, just fold a lightweight piece of A4 in half, thats your section. For the pop out, fold a piece of either A4 light card or heavyweight paper in half, turn over and fold the halfs into each other and use double sided tape to affix to the section, and so on. For the cut out, when you are doing the inside bit before you stick, cut out whatever shape, you could keep it simple and go for a tag, with childs name on one, date of birth on the next/church on next/ date on next/ time on next and so on. I made one of my first cards using this technique. I only did one section though. I will try to find it. I have to say I don't really like the designs on the ones I showed you, I was just showing you the idea Smile

Sorry H, can't find it, I do like the Girls one with the pins, but not too keen on the front of the boy one. If you look at the aerial shot of the girls one, it shows you pretty much how to make. Gotta shoot, work beckons. HTH

UCM you're a wonderful woman! I got the idea from the girls card about how to put it all together and had a quick go at it last night. It turned out not too bad. I realised that it was more the inside of the cards you were showing me!! I wasn't so keen on the outsides but mainly because the crafters on here do much nicer stuff! i'll play about with some ideas and see what I come up with. Feeling a bit more inspired now.

Great, glad to help, I did wonder if I should tell you to scroll down in case you thought the top pics were what I meant. Anyway, I would love to see whatever you decide to do when finished, so pictures please Grin

Also if you want some silver nappy pins, I will send if you want.

hullabaloo · 07/04/2006 15:17

Oooh UCM I've never posted any pics of my stuff! I'm too scared!
Are the nappy pins like those ones on that card? I have a few of the tiny making memories pastel coloured ones. It's not them is it? Anyway I will happily swop something if you'd like. I think I've still got your email addy somewhere so I'll drop you a line. Thanks!

Sorry H, I was trying to show you the nappy pin on it's own, but the sizzix site has other ideas. My addy is [email protected]

I found it, it was nestled far away in my Recycling bin.

It's a very old card.

Thanks UCM that's lovely! Got your message about the stars I will send you a selection if that's OK. Will post them tomorrow. It's my son's party so I've been a bit busy!
