My 13 year old dd has requested a new Christmas stocking - too mature for a sack now?! - and would like a "pretty" stocking. She is happy for me to either buy or make it. Has anyone seen any possible alternatives when they've been out and about shopping? Or online? Alternatively, are there any attractive patterns/ideas on t'internet ? I can manage basic machine sewing so as long as it's reasonably easy, I'll give it a go! TIA

There will be knitted ones on Ravelry (ravelry.com). You need to register, but it is free and quick. Just look under patterns and search for Christmas stocking.

This looks fairly simple: fabricworm.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/christmas-stocking-tutorial.html

I just made this for DD. Really easy. Never sown before.

I did a Christmas stocking l tutorial ast weekend, which you are welcome to use and adapt... the basics are the same for any lined stocking :)

If you need instructions for an actual template PM me and I will send one through. :)

there are some fabric panels on etsy and ebay where you just cut the pieces out and sew them together.
