silly question about scrapbooking

how do you doit?
what i mean is, how is it different to sticking photos in a photo album? with lots of lovely embellishments etc?
do you just do individual scrapbooking pages, and stick them in a folder? or do you buy special scrapbooking books?
id quite like to do some with all the pictures lying round the house. and all my lovley crafty bits and pieces. but not sure what to do..#
how is scrapbooking different to a card without an envelope?

You buy special scrap albums and you slide the pages into plastic wallets in the album to keep them clean and safe!

No - more like a photograph album with big plastic wallets rather than normal pages.

Scrapbooking is usually done in 12x12 although 8x8 and 6x6 layouts are used.

do crafty websites sell them?
dh has been on at met o organise the photos, this could be a great way for me to be doing what i am told to , as well as spending all his hard earned dosh on my hobby!

If you're anything like me, it'll take a long long time:)

I find myself farting around matching photos to paper and all the other bits and pieces, not to mention all the shopping time, that my progress on scrapping the backlog of pictures has been very slow:)

i think it will take me forever, but thats ok, its the process that is important.
sb, the kalulu scrapbooks are not cheap. since i dont really intend to start out with a main theme in mind, more a sort of lets put this yummy crafty stuff round this picture sort of thing,
why iss scrapbooking done on 12 by 12 instead of a4?

I think the 12x12 is just to give room for a good size photo a title and all the bits and bobs!

You can pick up more reasonably priced scrapbooks at WHsmith and boots. I got mine from TK Maax for £5.99!

Until you get one, just keep your LOs in a pizza box - ask nicely at your local pizza place!

If you buy any scrapbook papers they tend to put them in big 12x12 envelopes to send them to you - keep these and put your LOs in them until you get a scrapbook!

This is the first layout I did, it did help that my mate supplied me with loads of photys

This was just a background paper, and I put a few words, with a background to match. I look now at loads of Scrapbooking, and it's all a load of competitiveness (if thats a word).

Put What YOU want is my line!!!!don't be sucked into the inspirations/etc. Take ideas, BUT BE YOURSELF........

I discover my local craft shop had all sorts of Albums, papers and embelishments. Beware I spent a fortune . You could do it on A4 and use the plastic sleeves you get for folders or a A$ display book. The thing is most of the scrapbooking stuff is acid free, although the lady in the craft shop asured me that most new paper is acid free anyway.

Stitch...scrapbooking is done on A4 and lots of the american sites show A4 pages. Its not really that popular yet in the UK but is slowly filtering through with some manufacturers supplying A4 sized patterned papers for the UK market.
The beauty of scrappin is that there are no rules to how you should set your pages out...you preserve your photos and memories however you want to.
UKS is a great starting point for you to pick up ideas and inspiration....enjoy...tis great fun and I find it so very rewarding and a great way to unwind.

Agree their is a lot of sentimental old tosh which is perhaps more american. There were a lot of wordings and titles in the pack of papers I got that I didn't use.

i did three lots of scrapbooking sheets today.
ws great fun. and i just did them on a4 as i had a couple of the plastic wallet things, well, knicked off ds's homework folder! but will get the 12x12 as soon as i can.

i cant view the uks images. it says i havent got eprmission. how do i view them? pretty please?

i am not judge, but to me all the stuff i have seen from mnetters is gorgeous
