I'm having a go at Ravelry's Ten stitch blanket pattern and have got stuck.

Trying to do the first square and the open corner.
I've been knitting for years and should know how to do this but it has confused me - I suspect I'm over thinking it!

Sl 1 k8 yfwd sl 1 pwise yb turn

What does that mean? - its the bit to do with moving the wool about I don't get!
I'll post a link in a mo.

All help gratefully received.

you are wrapping the last stitch.

sooo the yfw bring it to your side, you slip the next one as if you were going to purl it, put the yarn back around the the other side and turn the whole lot around....lh needle to right hand and vice versa.

Hmmm

But that's what you would do anyway if finishing one row and starting another?

Or am I missing the fact that I'm supposed to be wrapping

Confused

you won't finish the row....the last stitch is left on the left hand needle and not worked.

and the wrapping is just to tidy up the gap a bit I think.

Ooh I get it - so that's why each row there are less stitches and gradually more on the other needle.

Off to try that!

Thanks
