Search charity shops/pound type shops for a round tablecloth. Fold in half and decorate/add ribbons accordingly. Same idea with a paper tablecloth if you think it would last the day.

Alternatively, length of lining fabric (about a £1.00/m), hem edges and secure with ribbon at her neck. Sort of rectangle with ribbons at top corners. I used this idea for a witches cape at halloween and it worked for my 5yr old.

Good Luck

Hobby craft are doing straw hats at £1.49, why not attach yellow fabric/ribbon and tie sides round like a bonnet? the hats are very bendy and easy to reshape into a bonnet-y type idea???

I made an Easter bonnet out of a straw hat once for dd2. They are v bendy I agree!! We made a hogwarts cape for dd1 recently out of a square of material and cut armholes in it, looked fantastic. You could put some fur/wool around the edges?
