what to put in a box

It's mothers day at the end of next week and I've decided to make origami boxes with some of the children I work with. That's the easy part! I'm racking my brains to have that "aaaah" moment for the mums when they open their boxes - you know, like the poems that accompany handprints and such.

I would love to hear some wonderful suggestions, which I know you all have Grin.

hand prints on curled-up-like-a-spring pipecleaners?

kiwibella · 14/03/2006 17:21

I like the idea of something being on a pipecleaner - a flower perhaps? It's the message to accompany that I'm having trouble with.

I remember those wish boxes....

Oh!! Back to googling :)

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small,
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls;
But here's a little hand print
You never will undo.
It's for you to keep forever,
'Cause I made it just for you!

This is my hand.
My hand will do
A 1000 loving things with you
And you will remember
When I am tall...
That once my hand
Was just this small.

HAven't had much success finding a more generic "my mum" poem that's appropriate

SoupDragon · 14/03/2006 17:28

pmsl "Mummy. A mummy is a preserved corpse" is one of the results I got from google for "my mummy" poem !!

hehe SD! Thanks for taking up my challenge :) I'm great with these half baked ideas. I really want the mums to be surprised by what is inside their box - be it kind words or a gift.

I've got two ideas atm.

First is sticking with the flower on a springy pipecleaner idea saying "Mum's make children blossom".

The other is sunflower seeds (which kind of fits because I am going to do sunflowers after the Easter hols) with the message "you are my sunshine"

I've just found:
I wanted to make you something special.
But you already are!

There is some really cute stuff \link{http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/mothersday.html\out there}

Kiwi- the sunflower thing you just described, that's the line I used on my layout for ds2 last weekend Grin
along with when you're smiling (the song lyrics)

A little rabbit with flowers on pipecleaners?
there's rabbits and kittens cheap on here:

Else they do Angels, how about: I promise to be your angel on Mother's Day?

Personally I would prefer a miniature bottle and a bar of greena nd black, but there you go!!! Grin Wink

I like the angels idea and, of course, the G&B's!! I must be able to fit in an excursion to the stores :)
