Pleae note the colours are much brighter in real life- scanner doesn't like JPEG much- fuchsia colours in fact, and I whipped off the stickers and instead embellished the name with my fiskars set. The backing paper is blue glitter.

I did some quilled mothers day cards yesterday too, not scanned yet though.

I'd forgotten how much I like quilling Grin.
Attempting quilled dinosaurs tonight.

Here's my ones from yesterday / last night. The sending flowers one has a packet of flower seeds inside, I'm using it for Mother's day but I guess it would do birthday, keep in touch, get well, retirement even- Grin.

That dinosaur one is fantastic. You are right it's unusual to see one for a boy but you have got that just right. It's really good.

Carolinett · 06/03/2006 18:30

Wish I could do quilling, they're all brilliant

Whizzz · 06/03/2006 18:36

Lovely! Smile I must get round to trying quilling on day!
What's the secret to sticking the quilled bits down & don't they get sqashed if you put the card in an envelope ?

PeachyClair · 06/03/2006 19:38

They're stronger than you think, all those coils, an engineering masterclass. they're also really, really easy- try Jane Jenkins website, or the kits available in lots of craft shops. i learned when I was ten, but DS1 had a go the other day and was scarily good.

If it's a really precious card I just cover an old A5 jiffy with paper.

Oh gluing: either pva and a cocktail stick, or a zig pen.

Peachy, they are lovely!!Grin I only ever quill the fluffy daisy flowers, never really sat down and made the time to try anything else.

But I do have this site \link{http://www.quilledcreations.com//eshop/quillingkits.asp\here}in my favs, ready for inspiration when I do have the time!Wink

Out of interest, how long do they take you to make up now?

PeachyClair · 07/03/2006 10:55

Flowers ones, i can do three in an evening (about 2 hours I guess) that includes any other embossing etc as well. The dinosaur one took longer- about 3 hours? but it was a first attempt and I reckon I could halve that.

Oh and I bookmarked the site, thanks. I got the design for dinos from one of their kits, but now I have the technique I shall play around- DS1 has a thing about archaeopteryx (sp?). I also have the zoo one as want to do a Noah's Ark for my nephew's birthday.

I think the kits are great, Canny Crafts stock them.

We had to learn Quilling at Primary School- I assumed everyone else did but i guess not?

I've got a few books on quilling, I do find making the daisies very relaxing and would love to try more. But I think it's something that will only come in time...which I don't have a lot of.

I found that site before xmas and loved their designs, so up to date and different from the traditional quilling designs you tend to see.
