what is scrapbooking?

This may be my most stupid question yet!
But what is it exactly, what do you do, put in, who do you do it for? Starting to notice how many people are doing it and thought a bit of info would be useful.

I am still very new to it, having only started my first album half way through this month, I have chosen to focus my first scrapbook on my DD's first year. So I am using her photos as my start and building from that.

I have tried to use a few different things that I have in my craft stash to see how they work - different cards and papers, embelishments, eyelets, brads, handmade paper, etc.

i have enjoyed doing it. Great way to switch off for a couple of hours or so :)

oH, i AM DOING IT FOR MYSELF AT THE MOMENT, BUT WILL PROBABLY PASS THE ALBUMS ONTO dd WHEN SHE IS GROWN UP.

Compared with the albums some of the girls here do I am a real beginner, although I've made cards for 3 years now.

A scrapbook doesn't need to be a big ongoing task, I made a little album/book for my DH for Valentines Day only had a few photos in it, but it was enought of a taster to get me started onto other projects.

Hula baby that is lovely i really like the one called "our girl" the colours are put together really nice.

Dingle, that album is wonderful, what a lovely gift for your DH to treasure and what a nice couple you make.

It did make me laugh Jenk,he even took it into work to show the rest of the office!

One of the girls said to him, that is wasn't right we do things like that for each other,we shouldn't be so much in love after knowing each other for 10 years!

I absolutely loved making it, and as my first attempt, it has truely made me bitten by the scrapbooking bug!!
