I've been refurbishing a charity shop sewing basket for dd, 6, and last night she used the bits and bobs inside to make a little fur fabric cushion. I was so proud of her for doing it (concentration not her strong point) and a little bit proud of myself too (she asked to start it at five o'clock when everyone- mostly me- was tired and grumpy and I didn't say my usual "later". Have put brand new seeing scissors and ribbon in the basket for her to find later.

Aww, lovely :) -

my DD likes too sew, you might want to try your DD with a simple animal toy next - my DD made a stuffed cat at a similar age & stil likes to make them as baby gifts-

help her make a pattern using a plate & a smaller bowl for the head - triangles for ears, but aprox twice as big as you want them to finish to allow for the stuffing making them appear smaller - fix in eyes & nose - you can buy cat safety eyes & noses in good haberdashers - seam around the edge but leave a hole for stuffing - turn in - stuff with anything from cloth scraps, to wadding, to chopped up plastic bags, or poly beans - close stuffing hole & use either wool & a darning needle or fabric pen to give it a mouth :)

Maybe they can see when you're about to cut something wrong and an alarm goes off!
