Making toys / teddies

I make teddies - and I love making them but sewing their eyes makes me very stressed. Does any one have any tips? Should I use safety eyes? Felt?
I use felt for noses and sew a smile on them
/ but eyes just stress me!!

I tend to use felt, it's cheaper and easier to find than safety eyes. If the toy is meant to be for an older child I also use buttons. It really depends on the fabric that I use for the body.
I understand your stress, after all the eyes are the gateway to the soul and all the personality of the teddie hangs on their placement, but to be honest I tend to not worry about it, if they're wonkey it just adds to its personality.

A black circle or oval of felt with a tiny white embroidered highlight? a bit like this

That sounds good :)
it also depends on your toy's base colour, like this mouse that I made for a friend's baby.
