Eyelet setter - is this the right type?

New to all this scrapbooking, so hope you will bear with me!

I have some mini eyelets (1/8 I think) and some larger eyelets. I also have some eyelet pliers - but these are, I now know, only suitable for the larger of the eyelets.

So, what type of eyelet setter do I need?

the ones you've chosen need a hammer to go with them.

There are a number of choices for eyelet punches and setters.

i have these springy eyelet setters and punch

you pull the top and it twangs down and makes a hole and then the other end is the setter

So does that one not need anything else to go with it, and no hammer?

And is it a good price for it?

no hammer, so less noisey, not sure about price, will have a quick look for you, there are some others on ebay on auction too, which were cheaper

sure more experienced crafters will come!

if you to go for an outing this pm then Craft Haven near MFI is good, and i think they sell this tool and others!

you'll want a mat too, but you should get one with your fiskars shape cutter set!

but you can buy little ones just for doing eyelets

Ive got the making memories silent setter which is fantastic...it makes a lot less noise than the sprung loaded and the conventional hammer and setter type, although it is more expensive.

Ive tried all of them and TBH still find myself reaching for the hammer and my trusted old setter set which you can pick up from most craft shops for less than £5. Papermania do an excellent set of assorted sized hole punches and setters for only £3.99.

did you get that setter Hula/ I've just ordered the silend setter from Crafty Pastimes and it was the cheapest at £13.49 (apart for canny crafts at 12.10 but they're out of stock) They're 16£ upwards everywhere else

pixie....IMO you would have been better off spending a couple of pounds more and getting a sprung loaded setter....the zision needs some brut force so I hope you have mighty muscles.

JM-I need the silence more than anything. I craft when dd is asleep and so can't use my hammer at night. AAt the moment I'm leaving the eyeletts and doing them quickly in the morning when we wake up. I just thought that the sprung loaded setter would make a racket as well. If I can't use it I'll flog it on ebay- they're going for over £20 so it won't matter

The MM sprung loaded setter is silent....the zision is twist action and can rip the paper/cardstock very easily. One of the ladies at my crop class has it and I tried it out because she thought she was doing something wrong...she wasnt.

No bang with the MM one....the spring loaded fiskars one is as noisy as using a hammer.
