PHONE CHARMS!! My first attempt at beading!!

Dingle · 10/02/2006 13:13

The other night I sat down with my new beading goodies and ended up making 5 phone charms! The first one nearly got thrown across the room several times as I felt I need 6 pairs of hands!
Have made another 3 since then and I am really enjoying the change. It's also great because I have been able to still get something done while the children have been off with the lurgy. All you need is a couple of small(ish) organiser boxes rather than reams and reams of paper, D?S tape, embellishments......

If you'd like to see have a look here

Oo I like them - Very pretty ! Did you buy the chain & clips ready made or put them together yourself?

pootlepod · 10/02/2006 13:16

Dingle they are beautiful- are you selling them by any chance?

I made some wine charms for Christmas, they were quite simple once I had got the hang of it. You can get some really different charms on ebay quite reasonably.

But I really don't believe that you are going to think about stepping away from the card making!

Dingle · 10/02/2006 13:22

Well I wanted to make them as xmas pressies but never got around to it, I ended up buying them in instead.
I have sold one already and I am hoping to put some into the school staff room to help raise their SEN budget, alongside my cards of course...no I don't think I'll ever give up my cards. I am really getting into the thought of scrapping too...it's just with this rotten bug that has been with us for over a month now,, nothing seems to be getting done with Amelia at home with me constantly!

I am on the look out for other easy beading projects that a begineer could cope with, so if anyone has any links it would be appreciated.

Dingle - mount the phone charms on a card

Whizzz · 10/02/2006 13:24

The beaded bracelets that I did (in the Gallery - Jewellery) are quite easy once you have all the bits

Dingle · 10/02/2006 16:15

Thanks Whizzz, I'll take a look. I was hoping to get down to the library this week to get a few books, but I haven't had the energy to drag myself out, let alone me and 2 sickly children!

I got the chain, phone loops, and trigger clasps all seperate and made them up.

For the jewellery makers, can I also ask for recommended online suppliers. I mainly use Jilly beads so far.

I have a phone charm, it is a stilleto, I think the are starting to sell really well now as they get more popular, you could have a good little earner there

kiwibella · 10/02/2006 17:33

they are gorgeous Dingle... very clever! Has anyone had a go at the wine glass charms (lots of people talked about it once upon a time )

Dingle · 10/02/2006 17:38

I need to order more bits and bobs for the phone charms and I want to source out the wine charm rings too.

Some I have seen would be very easy to make.

They are beautiful. Would you consider selling one to me?

Dingle · 10/02/2006 18:44

Whizzz....I LOVE the charms in Puddle Lodge...could easily spend a fortune there!!

Katemum...email me on dinglecards at yahoo.co.uk
(ATM I am not giving comission to Downs Syndrome Medway, I am giving it to the kiddies school as part of their SEN budget.)

Dingle are they for sale and would they go on bags?

They are fab

Dingle · 10/02/2006 19:01

Thank you for all your kind words!

Yes Tamba, they would go on a handbag. I could knock off the price of the phone hoop and you would be able to hook the trigger clasps directly onto a zipper. If not the phone loop can just be threaded through a bag handle, belt loop, ipod, memory stick thingy...not very technical.. but most little gadgets, so I am told, have the little holes to attach things to!

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 10/02/2006 19:15

hehe

How much would you be selling them for?

Dingle · 10/02/2006 19:25

Just tried again.

Dingle · 12/02/2006 12:35

Please...does anyone have any books they recommend for beginners beading? IF we are well enough I am desperate to get to the library this week. As I will have the children with me, I will need to be quick...don't get much time to leisurely browse through the books with Amelia around!
