Peel offs - do you like them or loathe them?

I'm in the loathe camp!

I particularly dislike cards with a peel off 'happy birthday' on them!

And I have quickly checked the gallery to make sure I'm not being impolite

lol carilinet!! i'll be right behind you.

soapbox, not this thread, was a few last year. although threads like this can be taken harshly xxx

Whizzz · 11/02/2006 14:03

I almost flounced clutching my peel offs - I happen to like my Football card featuring a peel off Happy Birthday the ultimate cardmaking horror !! And I hope the little boy who its for tomorrow will too

champs · 11/02/2006 14:12

lololol!! i kind of flounced, took my cards off, including the peel off ofenders

was slightly dented but not enuff for me to pack them off to craft heaven, i even brought a pack off peel off markers in my last - splurge - till back - at - work - spree

Whizzz · 11/02/2006 14:13

In my Sizzix stash I have bought a Happy Birthday embossing stencil - wonder if that will be acceptable

champs · 11/02/2006 14:13

nice card whizzz, is that mesh?

champs · 11/02/2006 14:15

crossed posts
lol, who cares if it's not acceptable

Whizzz · 11/02/2006 14:16

[bush] I can't reveal what it is for fear of being laughed off here....I could fib & say its an exclusive type of craft mesh bought from an on line supplier.......but lets just say that it has an 'orangey' smell to it

Whizzz · 11/02/2006 14:16

that shoud be and not bush !!

champs · 11/02/2006 14:18

PMSL!!!

looks good to me, and little boy is bound to love it..... it will be the only scented card he gets

Dingle · 11/02/2006 14:24

here

and here

I can go on and find more if you like!
No not everyones cup of tea, but if we all liked the smae things, would the world be a boring place!

Carolinett · 11/02/2006 14:30

It's another winner Whizz.

Carolinett · 11/02/2006 14:34

Dingle is living proof that Peel offs work, if like her you know what you're doing.

soapbox · 11/02/2006 14:36

Well girls that is why my question was 'like then or loathe them'[LOL]

Room for all tastes here, as you have ably demonstrated!

Something did go wrong though as I quickly checked a few albums before posting to avoid such controversy, and I am sure I checked all of your's!

Oh well - I think the poll result was like not loathe! I'll have to cope with being in the minority I guess!

Anyone want to trade something for some peel-offs! Never used

Carolinett · 11/02/2006 14:40

LOL Soapbox, you really got the juices going.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2006 11:11

I think they serve a purpose - depends what you do with them really. The sheet of stars I have is perfect for decorating "thank you" cards with one hand whilst breastfeeding for example! Did a couple f nice christmas cards filling in the gaps on a peel off bauble with glue and embossng powder/fine glitter.

... sleeping dragonet awake now. Bah! Must have heard the keyboard clicking

JayzMummy · 12/02/2006 11:51

I think its down to your own personal taste and as Dingle says it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same things.

I loath using them myself because they are just not me, however I think all the cards you have made with them are wonderful. Just because I dont like using them doesnt mean I dont like them at all.....when used properly they look fabby, as both Carolinet and Dingle have proven with the images they have linked.

I hate stamping to...have boxes full of stamps and inks and never use them....apart from my Penny Black Stamps and alpahs, I never think to stamp an image for a card. Just because I dont like stamping doesnt mean I hate stamped images....I love em when I see them but they just arent for me! Embossing is just not something that floats my boat either....so we are are all so different.

I love using fabrics and metal on my cards, which are not everyones cup of tea but each to their own eh?

Champs Im sorry to read that you took your cards from the gallery because of comments made on the thread last year re toppers...I remember the thread so well and felt it very unfair that such comments were made. Everyone starts somewhere and toppers and peel offs are great for a quick card, which can look very effective.
You should put your cards back up....where they belong, so everyone can see how fabby they are.

Carolinett · 12/02/2006 12:21

Yer CHAMPS
Bring back your cards sod what anyone thinks, anyway who said something about topper I've used them as a quicky many a time and another thing there not cheap to buy either.
Anyway if everyone was that good at making cards why aren't they on the Create and Craft show,
Oh No
If you're asked to go on there you know your cards are crap
Hope this has cheered you up CHAMP
Please bring back the cards

JayzMummy · 12/02/2006 12:35

PMSL Carolinette.

PeachyClair · 12/02/2006 14:59

I think I now the lady who makes the samples for the Create and Craft show so will abstein......

I use 'bought' embellishments quite often, I always do a lot estra to the ard as well though- I have no problem with that. But some people do.
Bad luck them.

I also make my own charms from scratch with triple embossing but that doesn't make me a saint, just a cheapskate.

If we all made the same cards, what would be the bloody point? Walmart would flog them for less than we could do them for anyhow.
