Made a dress (purple)for DD for the next comp

Made drapes (green) for it - to be decorated with these - 3 each side (8.5 inches long)

Will it look OK?

I think it will look fab! Love those glittery peacock feathers. I certainly wouldnt be worried about it! Did you make all the rest of the dresses on your profile Katy? I love them all!

KatyMac · 01/04/2012 22:01

Umm not sure

I helped design/make a lot of them; but I am better at adapting what I have iyswim than creation from scratch which is what I am doing now

The green with the laces is a prom dress I tweaked

The short black is a top from one dress & the skirt from another

7 the design my friend drew me for the current dress is further down

I don't think the drapes are the right shape

They are too sari-like I think for Latin

Well, I m impressed even if you dont sound sure. They will swirl beautifully when she is dancing, no?

KatyMac · 02/04/2012 19:28

Thanks Dorothy - I'm still wavering

Nope I think the whole thing is a failure

The peacock feathers are lovely
The purple 'dress' is fine

But the green drapes are wrong somehow

Oh poo

I think going by the sketch that the drape is made from a large square folded in half to a triangle shape. The folded edge goes up one side with an arm hole cut into it. The two points on the opposite side to the fold are then knotted on the opposite hip. This then gives an over-dress effect rather than drapes. Does that make any sense at all?

KatyMac · 03/04/2012 07:29

Yes, it does

Let me play with that a bit - thanks

& the lady that designed it is in today, so might point me in the right direction (I wanted it to be finished.....silly me I am out of my league)

Thanks again

I agree completely with trumpton!

KatyMac · 04/04/2012 10:26

The designer changed the design completely - it's now a sort of wrap skirt with jewelled tails
