A very kind friend has just upgraded her sewing machine and has offered me her old machine as she knows how much I'd like a better one. I am not in a position to give her much for it but I feel I ought to offer her something - I know she could get more on Ebay or whatever but she says she'd rather I have it. How much should I offer her that won't be insulting but isn't more than I can afford? She says the machine is fairly old but it's a really good one even so. Should also mention that I'm planning to buy her a little present to say thank you as well.
